The Atelier
Visit
I dropped out of high school my senior year, had been building things since twelve, and by twenty-five was running my fifth business, a multimillion-dollar public enterprise. It looked, from the outside and from most angles inside, like the life I was supposed to want.
Then, on an ordinary morning at my father's house in Alaska, I stepped into a shower and something let go in me I hadn't known was holding on. The self I had spent my life assembling quietly dropped away. What was left was awareness without an edge to it, unbounded by skin or walls or sky. Not a new idea. A direct encounter with the deeper pattern underneath the life I had been building.
I spent the years that followed in serious study of what that pointed to, working with some of the most consequential thinkers of the late twentieth century, and applying all of it to the work of building.
I work with a small number of founders and world-builders at a time. When the signal is clear, the expression coherent, and the architecture sound, something shifts.
The business stops feeling like marketing, and starts feeling inevitable.
